Broadband Spin-Selective Amplitude-Phase-Joint-Coding Information Metasurface

Over the past decade, information metasurfaces have made significant progress, breaking down the barrier between the physical world and information science. However, most of the current information metasurfaces are commonly either amplitude-only or phase-only coding, or operated under single linear polarization, extremely limiting their functions and applications. Herein, a broadband and spin-selective amplitude- phase-joint-coding (APJC) information metasurface is proposed, based on which the amplitude and phase of co-polarized reflected electromagnetic (EM) waves under orthogonal circularly polarized (CP) incidence can be simultaneously and independently controlled via tailoring the resistance values of lumped resistors embedded into the meta-particles. In particular, the co-polarized reflection amplitudes and phases of two orthogonal circular polarizations can be separately switched between two states “0-1” and “0° -180°”, and both of which can be encoded in broadband range from 8 to 12GHz. It's expected that the proposed strategy can be applied to dual-channel stealthy technology and might find applications in data encryption, multi-user communications and other integrated systems.
