A Software and Hardware Design for Buoy Based Marine Data Acquisition System

The ocean observation buoy, as a floating automated monitoring platform, plays a crucial role in monitoring ocean meteorological, hydrological, and ecological parameters in marine research. In response to the issues of poor performance, accuracy, and reliability in observation buoys, this article proposes a multi-parameter ocean-atmosphere buoy data acquisition system. The design involves multi-dimensional data collection, data transmission methods, and low power consumption in the buoy. First, the system employs high-performance sensors for accurate data collection. Second, it utilizes the BeiDou satellite for remote communication and controls the system using an embedded STM32 low-power module. Third, an acquisition control program is developed based on LabView software. Experimental validation demonstrates that the system can effectively measure various parameters in the marine meteorological environment, such as temperature, atmospheric pressure, wind speed, and wind direction.
