Cost Effective Wearable Cloak for Diagnosing Early Stage Breast Cancer: A Preliminary Study

Cancer is an extremely painful and potentially fatal illness. Among all types of cancer, breast cancer is the most disturbing diseases for women. Statistics show that 42,260 fatalities per year are caused by breast cancer worldwide. Although mammography is the most popular technique, many people find it difficult and painful. The proposed study is used to develop a wearable cloak by using microwave sensors and controllers for early diagnosis of breast tumors. The microwave sensors will provide an accurate and reliable diagnosis of breast cancer without causing discomfort to the patient. The methods used for diagnosing is image processing, which is a non-invasive, radiation-free technique that can detect abnormalities in the breast. This technique is not only effective in diagnosing breast tumors but is also cost-effective, making it more accessible to patients. Infrared contactless sensor was covered with cotton in this developed device and effectively used for early diagnosis of breast tumors. Initially, LabVIEW software process was used to differentiate the normal and abnormal breast tissue temperature with the help of threshold values. This output will be forwarded via mobile phone to the patient using GSM. In conclusion, this wearable diagnostic cloak has the potential to revolutionize breast cancer diagnosis and monitoring, improving patient outcomes and reducing mortality rates.
