Automatic Koi Fish Feeding Device with Internet of Things Concept Using Fuzzy Control Logic

Koi fish, an ornamental fish species, derives its name from the Japanese language, where ‘Koi’ symbolizes Carp and conveys sentiments of Love and Compassion. These mesmerizing fish have a history dating back to the 12th century when the Emperor of Japan started keeping them, captivated by their playful nature and propensity to leap. Koi fish, a variety of Amur Carp (Cyprinus Rubrofuscus), boast exquisite and gentle adornments. However, nurturing Koi fish is no simple task, as they are delicate creatures requiring meticulous care, including regular and timely feeding. In light of these challenges, the integration of modern technology offers a potential solution. To address these issues, we propose the development of an IoT-based automatic feeding system utilizing MCU Node technology and implementing the fuzzy logic Mamdani method. This innovation aims to ensure Koi fish receive consistent feeding, thereby enhancing their overall well-being and breeding success. Consequently, we have titled our endeavor ‘Internet Of Things Based Koi Fish Automatic Feeding Tool with Fuzzy Logic Method.’ We anticipate that this tool will help mitigate the risk of Koi fish mortality due to irregular feeding practices. Following rigorous testing, the tool demonstrated an average error rate of 1.59%. Moreover, it categorizes feed levels as ‘low’ below 40%, ‘medium’ within the 40%-60% range, and ‘high’ from 60%-100%, offering valuable insights for maintaining optimal Koi fish health.
