Weather Monitoring System Based on Temperature, Humidity, Wind Speed and Rain Conditions Based on Internet of Things

Weather information is essential because the weather dramatically affects human activity. Weather conditions can change at any time, which, of course, can disrupt community activities. Weather information is needed by people for different purposes, such as management of agriculture, plantations, transportation, and building construction. Weather information services can be accessed from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) website, which widely provides weather forecasts for major cities. However, BMKG information could be more specific and easier to access in certain areas. This study aims to monitor weather conditions on smartphones through the Blynk application. The monitored weather conditions include parameters of temperature, humidity, wind speed, and rain conditions, which are processed by the ESP 8266 microcontroller. The output of the detection of weather parameters on the ESP 8266 is sent to the Blynk application by utilizing an internet connection. The test results show that the average weather conditions produced a temperature of 27.4°C, humidity of 85%, and wind speed of 5.1 km/hour with relatively no rain weather conditions.
