A Proposed Framework for User Cybersecurity Awareness

The remarkable development of the Internet and information technology has brought enormous benefits, but also exposed users to growing cybersecurity threats. Human errors and lack of security awareness are a major vulnerability that undermines cybersecurity. This paper reviews prior research on cybersecurity awareness frameworks and models, user studies evaluating awareness, and use of gamification and training to improve awareness. A comprehensive cybersecurity awareness framework is proposed, incorporating personalized assessment of user knowledge gaps, an adaptive training system using gamification principles, and continuous evaluation. The framework focuses on incorporating behavioral psychology and motivation theory to promote learning and habit formation. The training methodology combines instructional content with realistic simulations to provide experiential learning. Quantitative metrics evaluate training effectiveness and identify areas needing improvement. The framework provides a methodology to implement a complete awareness program, from initial design through continuous iteration. Adoption of this model can significantly improve end user security awareness and strengthen organizational security posture.
