Botnet Creation, Life Cycle, Infrastructure, and Detection Techniques

Among various network attacks, the most dangerous threats are those that are botnet-Ied. A botnet is an infected computer network that can carry out extensive illegal activity. These attacks are one of the main risks to cyber security. The idea of botnets spreading throughout the entire worldwide network of computers is introduced by this new attack pattern. Given the numerous illicit acts, high reported infection rates, and powerful comeback, Botnet is one of the main risks to cyber security. this paper offers an essential overview of botnets, their structure, lifecycle, and types, and several tools and methods have been introduced to track botnet detection. This paper reviews various techniques for detecting botnets in the last years and provided what are the newly used techniques that give high accuracy in detecting botnets in IoT devices. And as shown in multiple previous papers that the best accuracy is achieved by utilizing the CNN model, which can reach 99.992 % in botnet detection.
