High Gain Compact Cavity Backed SIW Antenna for WBAN Applications

An rise in interest has been noticed in recent years, for wireless components and systems. In the proposed work, a tiny multiband cavity-backed substrate integrated waveguide (SIW), and a coplanar waveguide (CPW) feed and a metamaterial antenna, are used to produce high gain for WBAN applications.[1] On the ground of the antenna, there is a radiating T-shaped stub. It is located opposite to the feed line. Substrate Integrated Waveguide and metamaterial combinations are employed. The antenna efficiency in this project is improved using Substrate Integrated Waveguide and a square split ring resonator (SRR).The suggested antenna utilizes FR4 substrate dielectric material of Ԑr = 4.4 and the antenna dimensions of 40 x 40 x 1.6 mm

. This antenna design is analyzed using ANSYS HFSS software.[2] FR-4 Epoxy is used as the substrate. The suggested antenna has a return loss of -9.6735 dB, 7.568 dB, and -12.50 dB and resonates at three different frequencies, respectively 2.40 GHz, 6.70 GHz, and 7.40 GHz. The VSWR achieved is 5.9232 and gain obtained is -2.6622 dB. The antenna achieved in this project is directional radiation type antenna.
