Mechanical threat monitoring over telecommunication fiber cables using distributed acoustic sensing without distributed amplification

We report the results of monitoring the digging threat in telecommunication fiber cables using distributed acoustic sensing without distributed amplification. The system successfully detected different excavator actions in a 101-km fiber cable with high accuracy.
