Suppression Strategy for Power Fluctuation in Adjacent Unit Caused by No-Load Transformer Charging

The power fluctuation in the adjacent unit is easily caused when the no-load primary transformer of a nuclear power station is put into operation. This paper proposes a method to suppress the power fluctuation of the adjacent unit. First, the mechanism causing the power fluctuation in the adjacent unit when the no-load transformer is put into operation is investigated. Second, by reducing the inrush current with a phase selection closing approach, the power fluctuation in the adjacent unit is suppressed. Finally, an actual nuclear power plant is used as a prototype to build a simulation model to verify the power fluctuation suppression strategy of the adjacent unit. The simulation results show that the bus voltage drop and the adjacent unit power fluctuation phenomenon are well reproduced. The effectiveness of the power fluctuation suppression strategy proposed in this paper has been verified.
