Comparative Numerical Study Of Hole Transport Layer To Improve The Performance Of Cs2TiI6 Based Perovskite Solar Cell

In this study, an initiative of numerical simulation has been taken using Solar Cell Capacitance Simulator-1D (SCAPS-1D) software to improve the performance of Cesium Titanium (IV) Iodide thin film-based lead-free perovskite solar cell (PSC). For this research work, three different Hole Transport Layers (NiO
x
, MoS
2
and Cu
2
O) are tested with same perovskite absorber layer and a common Electron Transport Layer (ETL). Proposed device configuration for this work is Carbon/NiO
x
or MoS
2
or Cu
2
O/Cs
2
TiI
6
/TiO
2
/FTO/Glass. Power conversion efficiency (PCE) for NiO
x
, MoS
2
and Cu
2
O employing designs are found 13.05%, 12.68% and 14.41% respectively where the previous work using the same absorber layer have reported 3.13% power conversion efficiency. In this work absorber layer’s thickness has been optimized for all three configurations, as well as the influence of changing operating temperature, defect tolerance and changing series and shunt resistance on perovskite solar cell (PSC) have also been investigated. Main goal of this research is to find a high band gap PSC for utilizing in tandem solar cells, in order to enhance overall efficiency by absorbing shorter wavelength portions of the spectrum (high energy photon), which usually remains unused in traditional solar cells.
