Complex Ground-target Electromegnetical Modeling Using 3ds Max and TDIE

In recent years, the interest in radar automatic target recognition (RATR) based on the carrier-free ultra-wideband (UWB) radar has been increasing. Compared to narrow-band and other bandwidth radars, the echo signal of the carrier-free UWB radar includes more comprehensive and detailed information with respect to the interested objects. However, extreme bandwidth and the lack of carrier frequency increase the difficulty in precise echo-signal acquisition. For these reasons, we first utilize 3ds Max to acquire accurate geometric models and apply Time Domain Integral Equation (TDIE) for echo signals acquisition under the condition that the transmitted signals have an extremely short duration period. Then electromagnetic models of three typical ground targets are established, which lays a foundation for subsequent target recognition. By comparing the simulated waveform with the actual one, the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed methods is verified.
