Satellite Filters for 5G/6G and Beyond

Legacy satellite communication systems offered limited integration with terrestrial networks, mainly due to commercial and technological biases. With the satellite element now becoming part of the 5G ecosystem, it is expected that evolutions in the ground and space segments will inevitably impact the role of microwave filters into the new systems. This paper describes applications of filter technology in the context of satellite-terrestrial 5G communications and provides an overview of potential challenges and opportunities.
