A Proposal of Heterogeneous White-Hat Botnet in Botnet Defense System

In this paper, we propose to use not homogeneous but heterogeneous botnets in Botnet Defense System (BDS). BDS uses a white-hat botnet to defend an IoT system against a malicious botnet. We also propose two typical tactics that elicit a synergistic effect of a heterogeneous botnet. Tactic 1 uses a heterogeneous botnet built with two kinds of white-hat worm: strong and short-life worm, weak and long-life worm. Tactic 2 uses another heterogeneous botnet built with different two kinds: strong and short-life worm, weak and short-life worm. , the proposed tactics enable BDS to achieve their goals more than 10% more effective in the case of Tactic 1 and more than 5% more effective in the case of Tactic 2 compared to the conventional methods.
