Research on the Switching Transient Characteristic of High-Speed Maglev Traction Converter

This paper investigates the topological structure and commutation processes of 24MVA high-speed maglev traction converter. In order to satisfy the different running speed needs of maglev train, the converter can work on the series mode or the parallel mode. Based on the research of IGCT switching transient characteristics, the commutation processes of active neutral point-clamped (ANPC) three-level bridge arm are analyzed, which can be influenced by the parasitic parameter, power device characteristic and pulse width modulation strategy. According to the above analysis, the detailed structure design of power module is presented and a prototype of 24MVA ANPC three-level converter has been built. The simulation and experimental results validate the correctness of theoretical analysis.
