Research on Loop-Closing Strategy of Two-Way Active Distribution Network Based on Power Flow Controller

The distribution network in China is mainly closed-loop designed and open-loop operated. Loop-closing operation is often taken to improve the reliability of power supply. However, due to different line lengths and loads on both sides of the circuit, the amplitude and phase of voltages at both ends would be different. The accompanying short-term power outages, circulating currents, and transient processes may cause unnecessary shocks to the system. To solve this problem, a loop-closing control strategy based on power flow controller is proposed in this article. Simulation results show that the proposed control strategy can effectively reduce the loop closing current.
