Modelling the Interrogation of Planar Fabry-Pérot Ultrasound Sensors with Bessel Beams

Planar Fabry-Perot-based ultrasound sensors are highly sensitive for their small element size when interrogated with focused Gaussian beams. Here we announce the development of two models that can characterize the circumstances under which a Bessel interrogation beam provides sensitivity superior to that of a Gaussian beam, extending photoacoustic imaging depth without compromising sensor directivity.
