A Novel Scheme of Doppler Measurement for Magnetron Based C-Band Tracking Radar

The Indigenous Transportable C- Band tracking radar is a 4D radar providing Monopulse track data in Range, Azimuth, Elevation and Doppler. The Radar has been designed and developed based on state of the art digital technologies which include FPGA based Digital Receiver. For long range application, this class of radar employs a magnetron based transmitter due to the requirement of high peak power. However, extracting the fourth dimension (4D) of the target, i.e. the Doppler frequency is not a straight forward method for these magnetron based low PRF (Pulse Repetition Frequency) Radars. This paper describes design and development features which result in high accuracy Doppler Measurement.
