Comparative Review of Logistics Park Planning among China, Japan and Germany: response to territorial development in China

Logistics parks serve an indispensable role in the ongoing economic and social development of various countries, providing efficient allocation of logistics resources and adding to the momentum of economic development. This research is a qualitative comparison study between the practices of China, Japan and Germany in planning and designing logistics parks, in terms of the definition, factors of planning, models, construction and operation, and the level of planning of logistics parks. Based on the findings that indicated a shortage in China’s current logistics park planning practices, the authors suggested that a reasonable transformation or upgrade according to the practical economic demands, local industrial characteristics and he specific transportation networks for those under-planning or even in-operation Chinese logistics parks that have gone through planning and construction, in order to pursue long-term progress in lowering the cost, augmenting the efficiency and delivering quality services.
