A New Method for Fault Location Considering Primary/Secondary Disconnection

The traditional double terminal and single terminal fault location methods cannot locate the fault accurately in the event of the re-fault after disconnection of the secondary circuit or the overhead line. This paper analyzes why the traditional fault location methods cannot adapt to the re-fault after the disconnection of secondary circuit or the overhead line, puts forward an improved single terminal fault location algorithm, and on this basis raises a set of adaptive comprehensive fault location algorithm. Through theoretical derivation and RTDS simulation, it is proved that this method can effectively improve the fault location accuracy of re-grounding after disconnection of secondary circuit or overhead line without reducing the original fault location accuracy.
