5G PBCH Reliability Estimation

This article is aimed to investigate the reliability of the Physical Broadcast Channel transmission in 5G radio network. 5G is the New Radio and the latest mobile networks evolution step. It is intended to achieve extremely high data rates and very low latency on its air interface together with high user density. The PBCH is the first channel in 5G which is decoded by user equipment to get information about availability of the cell and other system information blocks configuration. The software for the PBCH transmitter and receiver is developed to reflect the procedures responsible for providing the robust data transmission on that channel and their effect on the reliability such as bit and sub-block interleaving, polar coding and rate matching. The characteristic of block error rate versus bit error rate is derived and analyzed. It shows the BLER via the number of incorrect bits in the PBCH transport block.
