Some notes on electrical breakdowns

I should like, at the outset, to mention that these notes have been put together at short notice, and consequently they are rather disjointed and perhaps discursive, as I have had very little opportunity of evolving them into a detailed paper. I have had to rely upon my memory, as I have had little opportunity of analysing records in detail.
