Mr. President, Ladies and Gentlemen, the nature of this paper, which was simply an attempt to bring before you some idea of the importance of electricity in modern metallurgical practice, is hardly conducive to any extensive discussion, but I must express my thanks for the expressions of appreciation which have been accorded it. I am indebted to Mr. Perrow for his amplification of my very brief account of Broken Hill zinc metallurgy, for it is some years since I visited that plant, and the figures I quoted were given me then.
