The jeppe street power station of the city of Johannesburg electricity undertaking

(1) Introduction. The paper which it is my privilege to present before the Institute is a general description of the Jeppe Street Station of the Johannesburg Municipality, and it incorporates details of the operating results and costs for the year ended 30th June, 1933. It had been suggested that a comparison of the operating and maintenance costs of the Jeppe Street Station might be made with those of the Congella Station of the Electricity Supply Commission in the course of the discussion on the paper presented by Dr. van der Bijl and Mr. Damant in March, 1933, but on attempting to prepare a contribution for comparative purposes, it was found that its length became rather unwieldy, and the paper has, therefore, been written more in the light of one of interest generally, more particularly to those familiar with power station practice.
