Robust Control of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generators based Wind Energy Conversion

Permanent magnetic generators (PMSGs) are gaining popularity in wind turbine production with the development of electronic power technology. This paper presents a novel Fractional Order Sliding Mode Controller (FOSMC) for speed and currents of a PMSG system in a d - q reference frame. The key objective of the controller is to track the maximum power point of wind turbines based on PMSG by adopting P&O technique to control the generator speed and rotor currents. Finally the simulation results of the proposed method in comparison to classical SMC is investigated.
