Enhanced DRA Gain by a Dielectric Ring for Millimeter-Wave Applications

In this paper, Dielectric Resonator Antenna (DRA) gain is enhanced through surrounding it by a dielectric ring at 60 GHz. The DRA is excited by a slot that is coupled to a printed gap waveguide (PGW) that suppresses the slot back radiation. In addition, the ring manipulates the radiation characteristics to achieve symmetry radiation patterns and low cross-polarization.
