Amniotic Fluid Bag Chromosome Geometric Features Detection

One way to diagnose the genetic disorder is the chromosome counting, which is the first step for analyzing genetic abnormalities. However, the automatic chromosome counting suffers a difficulty in detecting endpoint features of the chromosome skeleton image, especially the amniotic fluid chromosome image. Because of the different characteristics of various types of chromosomes:- Lymphocyte, and Amniotic Fluid chromosomes, each type generates skeleton image differently. The variation of the characteristics gives the challenges in the feature extraction process. Therefore, this paper proposes a technique called the Automatic Geometric Feature Extraction (AGFE) for Amniotic Fluid Chromosome Images. The technique is developed to improve the endpoint features extraction to achieve a better performance in the chromosome counting. The proposed method yields 98.66 % for chromosome features determination of amniotic fluid chromosome images.
