Space Charge Injection into Epoxy Resin Nanocomposite under Various Ambient Temperature

In this paper, space charge behaviours in epoxy resin filled with different contents of fullerene C60 (EP/C60 nanocomposites) have been studied using an improved pulsed electro-acoustic (PEA) method, in a large range of electric fields and elevated temperatures. Significant suppression effects of charge accumulation are found due to the introduction of C60. The energy levels and 3D potential distributions of epoxy and fullerene were analysed respectively to reveal the mechanism of fullerene on the improvement of space charge characteristics. The results show that doped C60 could introduce deep traps sites in EP/C60 nanocomposites, which acts as electric potential wells and suppresses the accumulation of charges. It is indicated that the space charge behaviours of epoxy resin could be tailored by doping C60 under high electric field at high temperature.
