Fabrication and Validation of an Acoustic Reflective Casing for Neurostimulation Studies with Microscopy

In this communication, we present a novel technique for focusing ultrasound using a 3D printed collimator and principles of acoustic reflection. The final intended application for this device and system is experiments involving simultaneous electrophysiological recording and microscope observation of animal brain slices. We describe the process of fabricating the custom ultrasound system that employs the reflecting collimator concept; we also report the completion of validation and compatibility tests to ensure it functions suitably under experimental conditions.
