Discussion on “A New Formulation of Distribution Network Reconfiguration for Reducing the Voltage Volatility Induced by Distributed Generation”

The authors of conscientiously contributed to formulate a network reconfiguration scheme to mitigate the impact of renewable (RE) based distributed generations (DG) on the voltage profile and network losses in a power distribution network. A novel voltage volatility index is outlined and proposed by the authors to analyze the impact of RE transient power output on bus voltage. Further, a new optimization algorithm based on Benders decomposition is presented for the regulation of bus voltage and reduction of system network losses through switching of the capacitor banks (CB) and optimized network reconfiguration.
