Testing of a Module for Electrical Substations to Demonstrate HEMP and IEMI Protection and GIC Detection

A design of a module to be installed in an electric substation that is protected from the high power electromagnetic disturbances such as the early-time high altitude electromagnetic pulse (E1 HEMP) and intentional electromagnetic interference (IEMI) for EM weapons has been completed. In order to ensure that the design is acceptable, a series of tests were performed and are described in this paper along with the results of the testing.
