Swimming Pool Segmentation in Pre-processing for Tracking Water Polo Players

Swimming pool is dynamic environment and it is changeable due splashing, reflections etc., so it is very hard to track people in it. Swimmers in the pool also affects on background. In pre-processing, it is important to find the best way to separate player before tracking. The main research subject in this paper is to find the best method for swimming pool segmentation. In this paper we present new method for swimming pool segmentation. Presented method from YCbCr colour space extract and analyse Cb and Cr components for background extraction. Method is compared with two methods in literature and applied in water polo players tracking system.
