An Aid for Speechless, Visually and Hearing Impaired Students in Classroom

Education develops a person's knowledge and prepares the individual to face the world confidently. Each individual's development automatically leads to social progress. Education to the visually and hearing impaired is no exception to the above statement. The current education system has not completely evolved to cater to the special needs of the visually and hearing-impaired students. An inclusive education system is an environment where the students with disabilities can fully participate in a classroom in equal competence with students without any disabilities. A successful inclusive education can happen only with the assistance of technology to aid the disabled students to primarily feel enabled in the peer group. The objective of this paper is to design and implement a low-cost wearable glove that will help the speechless, visually and hearing-impaired students communicate through automated sign language translational system. This system also encompasses an unassisted living aid for the disabled. The system is based on Arduino which includes flex sensors and Bluetooth.
