An Novel On-line Monitoring Method for Double-Y Type Shunt Capacitor Bank

The high voltage shunt capacitor bank is crucial for the stability of the power system. Double-Y type is a common connection mode for shunt capacitor. To improve the on-line monitoring ability for internal faults of shunt capacitor bank, a novel scheme basing on neutral point unbalance current is proposed. Firstly, the characteristic of neutral point unbalance current of shunt capacitor is theoretical analyzed under ideal condition. Considering the asymmetry of electrical quantity and parameters in the actual situation, Latin hyper square sampling method is used. It makes random combination of all possible complex working conditions and calculate the unbalanced current distribution under all possible working conditions. The proposed scheme can identify the fault severity and fault location.
