Coverage Performance of Light Fidelity (Li-Fi) Network

Li-Fi or Light Fidelity is a wireless communication technology that uses Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) to transmit data. LEDs are considered as Access Point (AP) which have some effects on the channel gain of User Equipment (UE) depending on its transmission paths. This paper evaluates the performance of Li-Fi network with multibeam LEDs on moving UEs. Multibeam LEDs are LEDs have more than one beam working simultaneously at a time. The UE channel gain values are investigated based on the maximum signal received from the AP sources. By using MATLAB, the simulated results show that when the beam angle is 30° with respect to vertical axis and facing down, UE has the best performance when considering its Signal to Interference Ratio (SIR) mean values and standard deviation.
