Development of Ka-band High Performance and Miniaturized Transceiver Front-end

Applied to millimeter wave systems, a Ka-band broadband transceiver front-end is developed. The system adopts the method of frequency mixing before frequency doubling, which effectively reduces the frequency doubling times and phase noise loss and improves signal spur suppression. Packaged devices are used in the low frequency circuits, dies are used at high frequencies, and thin film process filters are used in multi-stage frequency doubling filtering. These measures are effective in reducing costs. Through experimental tests, the transceiver front-end has sufficient power output and spur suppression. In the 30–35 GHz operating band, the output power is 26 dBm, the power flatness is within 1 dB, the spur suppression is greater than −49 dBc, and the phase noise is better than −84dBc@1KHz at 35GHz. The receiver gain is 55dBand the gain flatness is within 3dB. The transceiver system has a unique design and low cost, and has broad application prospects in millimeter wave systems.
