Study on AEB Performance Improvement on Curved Road Based on Curvilinear Coordinate System

An autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system on a curved road derives the relative distance using the radius of curvature. To improve the performance of the AEB system on curved roads, it is necessary to reflect geometrical information about curved roads. In this paper, the curve coordinate transformation is used to consider the geometric elements of the curved road. The validity of the proposed method was verified by analyzing the collision avoidance performance through the relative distance and time-to-collision.
