Research on Stator Core Radial Ventilation Duct of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator

To achieve better cooling effect, the stator core of large capacity PMSG is segmented. The radial ventilation ducts between every two stator core segments will influence the magnetic field distribution and performance of PMSG. This paper introduces a new method to build the 2D model considering the radial ventilation duct. With this method, two kinds of stator core structures are studied. One is that the effective length of stator core is constant but the radial ventilation duct size changes. The other is that the total length of stator core is constant but the effective length of stator core changes. For each stator core structure, the magnetic field distribution and performance of PMSG are studied separately when radial ventilation duct changes.
