H-shaped Metamaterial Loaded Wideband Spoof Surface Plasmon Polaritons Antenna

An X-band end-fire antenna based on spoof surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) is proposed in this paper. A periodic modulated corrugated metallic strips are used as a SPPs transmission line to radiate. The high refractive index metamaterial constituted by H-shaped unit cells is utilized to increase antenna gain. The simulated results show that, by placing the metamaterial unit cells properly, the SSPPs antenna achieves 7.1-10.1 dBi peak gain variation in the frequency range of 8-10GHz with VSWR<;2. The small transverse dimension makes it suitable for designing antenna array in the application of radar and electronic warfare.
