Characteristic Factor Analysis on Stator Winding Inter-turn Fault in DFIG Based on FEM Simulation

In the increasingly declining status of fossil fuels, the use of wind power technology in the new energy industry is increased. The steady-state operation of DFIG in harsh environments is affected and prone to malfunction. The stator winding inter-turn short circuit(SWITSC) fault is one of the common electrical faults in DFIG. In this paper, ANSYS Maxwell software is used to establish the FEM simulation model of the DFIG at the grid-connected operation and the stator winding inter-turn short circuit. The paper made the quantitative analysis of vibration, current and loss characterization of air gap flux density distortion in two working conditions. By comparing the size of the characterization, it is determined that the stator current is used as the characteristic factor to reflect the change of the air gap magnetic field of the stator winding inter-turn short circuit fault.
