Dispersion Compensation for 40Gbps Optical Waveguide System by Using FBG

In optical system the reason of introduction of losses in the transmission system is that, during the transmission, the pulses travelling through the fiber changes its shape and broadens. If the data rate is increased to 40Gbps, dispersion occurs by the pulse broadeningand becomesindistinguishable at the receiver end. The purpose of this paper is to design a dispersion compensated system using FBG. The system performance is measured through the changes in the eye diagram and Qfactor. It was achieved by making variations in the parameters of FBG effective index from 1.4 to 1.5 and varying the FBG length from 1.5mm to 2.4mm the input power from 1dBm to 20dBm. Also variations were made in the input power 1dBm to 20dBm. The Qfactor achieved at the wavelength of 1554nm is 99.05 with the eye height of 0.5574.
