High-Voltage Driver with Functions of ZVS and Over-Current Protection for Air Cleaner Applications

In this paper, a high-voltage driver with functions of zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) and over-current protection for air cleaner applications is proposed. It has the following advantages: 1) To use a ZVS cell, it can reduce switching losses of active switches. 2) To use a voltage-doubler circuit, it can easily obtain a high voltage (8 kV). 3) To incorporate a sensing resistor and logic circuit, it can sense over-current conditions to achieve protection function. Therefore, the proposed high-voltage driver of the efficiency and safety can increase. To verify the performance, a prototype of the proposed high-voltage driver is built. The experimental results have verified that the proposed high-voltage driver with functions of ZVS and over-current protection is suitable for the air cleaner applications.
