Design and Analysis of Crossflow Turbine Prototype for Picohydro Scale

This paper discusses the design and analysis of Crossflow turbine with picohydro scale. This turbine can be applied to river flow with small water flow rate and low head. This picohydro turbine specification is about 500 W with 4 m net head and a maximum flow rate of 0.018 m

/s. Prototypes of Crossflow turbine were tested at the power plant laboratory owned by TELIMEK-LIPI. The test is performed with both the flow rate and head conditions that are set permanently or close to the design value. The maximum real power produced by the turbine can be seen from the electrical power produced by the generator. The generator then flows into an electric load. The test results are obtained in the form of rotational graphs for power and real power graphs for efficiency. The turbine test results obtained have an efficiency of 82.20% with a real output power of 346 W.
