Integrating Monozukuri-Based Learning for Undergraduate Program in Information Technology

Monozukuri spirit is one of the keys to succeed in Japanese manufacturing and business and it has been applied in many human development processes including education. In this paper, we focus on the integration of monozukuri-based learning in information technology for undergraduate curriculum. It was designed and implemented in business information technology program to enable students to demonstrate their capabilities and skills to the utmost. It is imperative that teaching and learning with mind and kaizen need to be cooperative with appropriate technologies and interconnectivity of the relevant courses. Cloud computing is used in this study to enhance learning at any time, from anywhere and on any device. The course evaluations of 5 academic years indicate that the students have high degree of understanding monozukuri concept and gaining benefit of doing monozukuri project. The satisfaction in learning tools and technologies is also in high level. We believe that learning and working with monozukuri concept in mind will lead into the success for their professional career.
