Asynchronous Multi-cluster Wireless Powered Communication Network and Its Performance Analysis

Emerging 5G communication paradigms, such as Internet of Things and Smart City, have triggered an explosion in wireless powered communication network (WPCN). A new stochastic asynchronous multi-cluster WPCN (SAMC-WPCN) is investigated in this paper, where numerous wireless devices (WDs) are placed around a hybrid access point (HAP) and form clusters. The clusters are modeled as a homogeneous Possion point process (PPP). Due to the asynchronous mode, SAMC-WPCN can reduce delay, save power and prolong the lifetime of network, which is especially important for WPCN. The integral form outage probability and closed-form outage probability in special cases are derived. It shows that the outage performance is degrading with the increase of cluster density exponentially. For more in-depth characterization of SAMC-WPCN, the maximum cluster density and minimum transfer power are provided. Finally, simulation results validate the correctness of theoretical analysis.
