Technology of Enhanced Oil Recovery by Means of Electromagnetic Exposure on the Difficult Oil Reservoir

Enhancement of oil fields recovery is a top priority goal for fuel and energy companies especially when hydrocarbon fields are depleted to a considerable degree. Residual reserves or reserves unrecoverable by means of conventional techniques account for in average 55-75% of the original in-place reserves. In this regard the implementation of advanced methods aimed at oil production increase will provide for both the enhancement of significant residual reserves and the decrease of oil production costs, which becomes comparable to conventional oil production. The article deals with the theoretical aspects of interaction of the oil fluid and subsurface rock in the electric field. To simulate the liquid flow in the porous medium a laboratory bench capable of electric exposure on the rock sample under close-to reservoir conditions most close was invented.
