Application of CAD/CFD-Technologies to Predict Regions of Thrombus Formation in Pulsatile VAD Systems

The paper presents the results of the mathematical modelling of the thrombus formation process in the blood pump chamber of the pulsatile type Ventricle Assist Device system with a 30 cm
³
ejection volume by using our national mechanical disk valve for artificial hearts. The regions with big potential thrombus formation in the blood pump chamber during the operation of the pulsatile type Ventricle Assist Device system have been determined.
