Applications of Metal-Dielectric Nanocomposite Structures in Information Systems

A comparative analysis of the main types of plasmon waveguides resulted in selection of the nanostructured metal-dielectric system, consisting of the dielectric basis and nanosized metal particles, for further study. Complex permittivity spectra of nanosized (<;20 nm) nickel and silver particles were obtained in the wavelength range of 0.2 - 1.1 μm using the proposed experimental-analytical procedure. Then values of the complex effective permittivity of composite structures with nanosized metal inclusions were determined in the frames of modified Bruggeman theory. The obtained electromagnetic characteristics of the nanostructured metal-dielectric systems are recommended for use in optimization and development of the optical waveguides, as well as of the control devices in optoelectronics and information security technique.
