New Concept for Anti - Islanding Protection in Distributed Network with Large Penetration of Decentralized Renewable Energy

In most countries of the world, renewable energy is increasingly used to ensure clean and sustainable energy for customers. The integration of these decentralized renewable energies to power grids, in particular the distribution part, creates several challenges in terms of control, as well as the organization of the distribution networks protection with a wide penetration of decentralized productions. Since this type of network is supplied by two sources, the transmission network and the decentralized production, in the event of a fault, part of the network is isolated from the rest of the network, for example following the opening of a circuit breaker. Several methods are used for islanding protection, either passive or active as they may be with new communication systems and each type having advantages and disadvantages. This article is developed in the context of an intelligent protection of the distribution network connected with decentralized productions of renewable type. This work aims at giving other scenarios and other possibilities for control and better exploitations of scattered renewable energies; this can be accomplished through new protection methods and organizations.
