Performance of Wireless Network IEEE 802.11 under Dual-Stack Environment

IPv6 is the next-generation Internet Protocol (IP) which designed to replace the current IPv4. The designed protocol is to manage the problem of insufficient IP address for online users. IPv6 provides sufficient address space to meet the predicted increases the Internet. Since IPv4 has already widely been deployed, it is required that the existing IPv4 and the recently added IPv6 can coexist and interoperate. Due to the incompatibility of the IPv4 and IPv6 headers. Various mechanisms have been proposed to support the interoperability between IPv4 and IPv6. In this paper, we analyze Dual-Stack mechanism over Wireless LAN Networks that use the IEEE 802.11g. This research will shed the light on comparing different Access Point (AP), with various protocols IPv4, IPv6 and (IPv4/IPv6) Dual-Stack environment These tested comparisons, by OPNET Modeler is used for network modeling and testing. The obtained test results show the importance of IPv6 to support Wireless Network IEEE 802.11 on the Internet. The performance metrics considered in this paperwork is jitter, end-to-end delay, media access delay etc.
